Kumbhalgarh Fort is the Mewar fort in the Rajasmand Districts of the Rajasthan state in the western India. It is a world Heritage Site includes in the Hill Forts of the Rajasthan. It is built during the course of the 15th century by the Rana kumbha and the enlarged through the 19th century. Kumbhalgarh is also the birthplace of the Maharaja Pratap, the great king and the warrior of the Mewar. Kumbalgarh is situated 82 kilometres northwest of the Udaipur by the road. It is the most important fort in the Mewar after the Chittaurgarh.
The Kumbhalgarh was built and ruled by the Kumbha and his dynasty who were Sisodia Rajputs descendents.
Kumbhalgarh also separated Mewar and Marwar from each other and was used as the place of refuge for rulers of Mewar at the times of danger.
Kumbhalgarh is quite unique and an interesting destination which attracts tourists from not only all over the country but also all across the globe for its massive citadel built 1443 A.D. and the wildlife sanctuary nearby.

By Air
The nearest airport to Kumbhalgarh is Udaipur. This is an important domestic airport, located 85 km from the Udaipur city, which is serviced by regular flights from several airlines from cities like: Delhi, Jaipur, and Mumbai.
By Road
The most convenient way to reach Kumbhalgarh is to book the private cab from Udaipur. En route to Nathdwara and Haldi Ghati (covering the distance of 102kms in 1 hour 38 minutes approximately).

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuaries:
The Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary surrounds the Kumbhalgarh Fort and covers an area of 586 sq km. It is situated across the Aravalli range and derived its name from Fort. Some Parts of Udaipur, Rajsamand and Pali districts are covered by this sanctuary. It is considered to be Rajasthan’s only sanctuary that houses a variety of wolves and tourists can observe the activities of rarely found wolf at this place.
Kumbhalgarh Fort:
The Kumbhalgarh Fort is located on banks of Banas River and is second most important fort of Rajasthan. It is surrounded by 13 mountain peaks and strengthened by watchtowers and rounded bastions. It was built by Maharana Kumbha and it took him some 15 years to build this fort.
The fort stretches across 36 km of the Aravalli Mountains and houses a domed palace. The length of the winding walls was instrumental in defending the citadel from the series of battlements. The fort rises from a prominent ridge, at a height of 1100 metres from the sea level. There are seven gates that guard this fort and are wide enough for eight horses to march abreast.
